Tanoa Landings Medal
The Tanoa Landings Medal was a campaign decoration of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen for registered expedition members who reached Ravi-Ta on 9 August 1944. Its official names were Landungsmedaille Tanoa in German and Medalla del Desembarco de Tanoa in Spanish.[1][2]
Jan Paap established it as one of six separate conquest campaign medals under the Führer Decree on the Decorations of the Conquest, issued on 31 December 1944. The decree recognized service during the completed conquest.[3][2]
Eligibility
[edit | edit source]Qualification depended on registered expedition membership and arrival at Ravi-Ta on 9 August 1944. Participation was certified through the chain of command.[2]
Insignia
[edit | edit source]The circular medal shared the conquest series' obverse, showing the Tanoan state eagle holding a palm wreath containing a swastika. Its reverse showed Ravi-Ta's outline above a naval anchor, with the landing date around the edge. The ribbon used light-blue and white Argentine stripes divided by a narrow black centre stripe.[2]
