Northern Tanoa Campaign Medal

From the Vrienden Universe, a fictional wiki

The Northern Tanoa Campaign Medal was a campaign decoration of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen for service from the occupation of Nasua on 15 August 1944 through the capture of Petit Nicolet and consolidation of Narevaku's Northern Division.[1] Its official names were Nordtanoa-Feldzugsmedaille in German and Medalla de la Campaña del Norte de Tanoa in Spanish.[2]

Jan Paap established it as one of six separate conquest campaign medals under the Führer Decree on the Decorations of the Conquest, issued on 31 December 1944. The decree recognized service during the completed conquest.[3][1]

Eligibility

[edit | edit source]

Assigned participation within the campaign area and qualifying period required certification through the chain of command. Combat and command duties qualified alongside essential operational support, including medical work, transport, communications and logistics. Personnel killed or wounded during the campaign qualified automatically, as did those decorated for bravery during it.[1]

Insignia

[edit | edit source]

The circular medal shared the conquest series' obverse, showing the Tanoan state eagle holding a palm wreath containing a swastika. Its reverse showed Mont Tanoa above a swastika, with Nasua and Petit Nicolet named around the edge. The ribbon was dark green with one narrow white centre stripe.[1]
