Johanna Berendsen (17 June 1901 – 5 July 1959) was the second wife of Dutch industrialist Ferdinand Schroeter, founder of Schroeter Traktoren. She was shot dead alongside her husband at their farmhouse in Stolwijk.

Personal life

Berendsen met Ferdinand Schroeter in Rotterdam in 1932. They married on 6 October 1934, after which she moved to his farmhouse in Stolwijk. Their only child, Merginus Schroeter, was born in Rotterdam on 25 April 1939.

Death

On the evening of 5 July 1959, unidentified attackers entered the farmhouse in Stolwijk and shot Ferdinand Schroeter in the sitting room. Berendsen encountered the attackers near an exterior door and was also shot dead.

Their son Merginus discovered both bodies when he visited the farmhouse on 6 July. Police investigated people associated with the Schroeters-West faction but did not identify the attackers or bring charges. Johanna and Ferdinand were given a joint funeral and buried together at the municipal cemetery in Stolwijk.
