Eastern Narevaku Campaign Medal
The Eastern Narevaku Campaign Medal was a campaign decoration of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen for service from the first Tanoan entry into Narevaku's Eastern Division through the capture of Richranga and consolidation of the division.[1] Its official names were Ostnarevaku-Feldzugsmedaille in German and Medalla de Campaña de Narevaku Oriental in Spanish.[2]
Jan Paap established it as one of six separate conquest campaign medals under the Führer Decree on the Decorations of the Conquest, issued on 31 December 1944. The decree recognized service during the completed conquest.[3][1]
Eligibility
[edit | edit source]Assigned participation within the campaign area and qualifying period required certification through the chain of command. Combat and command duties qualified alongside essential operational support, including medical work, transport, communications and logistics. Personnel killed or wounded during the campaign qualified automatically, as did those decorated for bravery during it.[1]
The Eastern and Southern campaigns began concurrently after the Central Division had been secured. Both ended before the close of 1944. Field and personnel records established individual qualifying dates within these operational boundaries.[1]
Insignia
[edit | edit source]The circular medal shared the conquest series' obverse, showing the Tanoan state eagle holding a palm wreath containing a swastika. Its reverse bore RICHRANGA within a palm wreath, with four smaller palms representing Raraba, Batiri, Muduo and Nunuvaka. The ribbon was white with narrow blue and gold edges.[1]
