Dumitru Ionuț (died March 2024) was a Romanian criminal and senior commander of the Bucharest Butchers. He controlled illegal gambling rooms, debt-collection sites, safe apartments and enforcement crews in eastern Bucharest. Oskar Dirlewanger promoted him to senior commander on 3 November 1987.[1]
Ionuț was the older brother of Mircea Ionuț and the father of Petru Ionuț and Iakob Ionuț with Lorena Cingolani. In 1989, he murdered Cingolani in their home while their sons were present.[2][3]
In March 2024, Petru visited his retired father at his home in Romania. Dumitru attacked him during their meeting, but Petru overpowered him and continued beating him after pinning him to the floor, killing him.[4]
