Einsatzgruppen Waffen und Munitionswerk (EWUM) was an arms manufacturer of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen that operated from 1967 to 1985. It succeeded Einsatzgruppen Waffenfabrik and produced firearms and ammunition for the Tanoan armed forces. The company was replaced by Kleiner Einsatzgruppen Waffenfabrik (KEW), which continued manufacturing its weapons after EWUM closed.
History
[edit | edit source]The Tanoa Einsatzgruppen established EWUM in 1967 following the closure of Einsatzgruppen Waffenfabrik, which had manufactured firearms since 1954. The new company continued firearms production and also manufactured ammunition.[1]
In 1984, Gustavo Kleiner founded Kleiner Einsatzgruppen Waffenfabrik to replace EWUM. The Tanoan government financed construction of a new weapons factory in the interior of Tuvanaka Island, away from the island's settlements. EWUM remained in operation while the new factory was being built.
When EWUM closed in 1985, its machinery and skilled workers were transferred to Tuvanaka. KEW continued producing the older company's firearms and ammunition. Some of these designs remained in production after KEW developed its first original firearm in 1992.[2]
