Maikel van Hetten (born 16 March 1953) is a Surinamese-Dutch member of the Van Hetten family. In 1994, he helped Charlie Noord acquire Hotel Zoutbaai in Curaçao through his personal contacts on the island.
Life
Van Hetten was born on 16 March 1953 in Paramaribo, Suriname. He is the son of Imro van Hetten, a former Luftwaffe fighter pilot, and the older brother of Imro van Hetten, who later became a member of De Vrienden.
In 1994, Walter Noord introduced his cousin Charlie Noord to Van Hetten, who had contacts in Curaçao. Maikel was planning to visit the island in August when Walter wrote to him asking whether Charlie would be coming as well.[1] Charlie travelled to Curaçao but arrived one day after Maikel. Van Hetten used his contacts on the island to help Charlie acquire Hotel Zoutbaai, which became the first property operated by Charlie's hotel company, Dubbelrif Hotelmaatschappij N.V.[2]
