A Reichcomisario (English: Reich Commissioner) was an official appointed by the Führer of Tanoa to govern a Reichcomisariado, a territorial administrative division of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen. The commissioner exercised authority over local government on behalf of the Tanoan leadership. Benito Blandino held the office in the western Falkland Islands from 2017 to 2024.[1]
Appointment and authority
[edit | edit source]The Führer of Tanoa appointed Reichcomisarios to administer territories under Tanoan control. Each commissioner answered to the central government, which issued orders governing the administration of the territory.
A Reichcomisario supervised local authorities and enforced Tanoan regulations. The office also carried authority over security matters and the management of resources within the Reichcomisariado. When dealing with local officials, the commissioner represented the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen and acted under instructions from its leadership.[2]
History
[edit | edit source]Following the Tanoan Conquest of the Falklands, the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen established a Reichcomisariado in the western Falkland Islands. The ceasefire signed with the United Kingdom on 8 April 2017 left the occupied territory under Tanoan administration.[3]
Benito Blandino, an officer of the Allgemeine SS, was appointed Reichcomisario of the territory after the ceasefire. He was promoted from SS-Sturmbannführer to SS-Oberführer and continued governing the western Falklands until 2024. His administration ended when the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen collapsed on 30 November 2024.[1]
