Gerard Paap (born 17 June 1967) is a Dutch businessman and member of the Paap family. He founded the beverage and clothing company Paapist in Rotterdam in 1993.
Career
Paap founded Paapist in Rotterdam in 1993. It began as a small beverage label selling caffeinated soft drinks through shops and garages in South Holland. Night kiosks and suppliers near railway facilities also stocked the drink, where it was bought by workers during long shifts.
By the late 1990s, Paapist had established a regular market in Rotterdam. The company had also adopted purple packaging and begun selling branded clothing that had originally been produced for promotional use.
