Death
On 18 June 2024, Marku Ionuț sent Petrescu to Hollywood, Los Angeles, with instructions to kill Petru Ionuț and abduct Silvia Wilson. Petru had refused to surrender control of his California criminal network to Marku, who also wanted Wilson brought to him alive.
Petrescu entered Petru's penthouse above a casino at approximately 9:13 p.m. Petru and Wilson were inside when he attacked Petru from behind, jumped onto his back and forced him to the floor. Wilson struck Petrescu on the head with a glass bottle at approximately 9:14 p.m., allowing Petru to break free. The two men continued fighting in the main room.
At approximately 9:15 p.m., Petrescu attempted to draw a handgun. Petru seized his arm and struggled with him over the weapon. The gun discharged once, grazing Petru's shoulder, before Petru knocked it away. Ruben Istrate, who had been downstairs in the casino, heard the shot and entered the penthouse carrying a firearm. He recognized Petrescu and warned that Marku might send additional attackers.
Petru gained control of the fight between 9:15 and 9:17 p.m. He repeatedly punched Petrescu, knocking out several teeth. Petrescu attempted to defend himself but couldn't recover his handgun or escape. At approximately 9:17 p.m., Petru struck Petrescu's head against the edge of a table and continued beating him. After Petrescu fell and tried to stand, Petru stomped on his head. Petrescu died at the scene, aged 25.
Petru and Istrate later transported his body to a field outside Los Angeles. While searching Petrescu's jacket, they found a note instructing him to deliver Wilson alive to Marku. Petru stabbed the corpse's face several times before he and Istrate buried it.
Following the confrontation, Wilson wasn't convicted for her actions against Petrescu. His death brought an end to the attempted murder and abduction, although the conflict between Petru and Marku continued.
