The '''Olt River''' (Romanian: ''Olt'') is a river in [[Romania]] and a left tributary of the [[Danube]]. It rises in the [[Carpathian Mountains]] and flows south through central Romania before joining the Danube near Islaz. The river is approximately 615 kilometres long.

The Olt passes through [[Slatina, Romania|Slatina]], the capital of [[Olt County]], which takes its name from the river. In southern Romania, the Olt forms the traditional boundary between [[Oltenia]] to the west and [[Muntenia]] to the east. Both regions belong to the historical region of [[Wallachia]].<ref name="oltcounty"/>

The river's drainage basin includes the Dârjov stream, which crosses [[Brebeni]], a commune south of Slatina. The Olt valley also contains hydroelectric dams and reservoirs along several stretches of the river.<ref name="brebeni"/>
